Newcastle Airport soars at travel awards
A North East airport has been recognised for its industry-leading service and support.
Newcastle International Airport has been named Star UK Airport at the Travel Bulletin Star Awards for the fourth consecutive year.
The accolade, voted for by travel professionals, celebrates the airport’s exceptional support for travel agents and innovative marketing that drives awareness and sales for its airline partners.
Following a shortlist that included Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Gatwick, Manchester and Stansted airports, the award underlines Newcastle’s growing reputation in the UK aviation sector.
Laura Hartshorne, aviation sales manager at Newcastle Airport, said: “We have fantastic relationships with our travel partners and their continued support helps showcase everything Newcastle Airport has to offer.
“We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and look forward to building on this success in the future.”
Newcastle is preparing for its busiest year yet in 2026, expecting six million passengers thanks to new routes and increased capacity.
easyJet will open a three-aircraft base in March, adding eleven new destinations including Nice, while Ryanair expands its winter schedule with Brussels, Budapest, Gdansk, Malta and a December launch to Wroclaw.
To accommodate this growth, Newcastle Airport will invest nearly £60 million in terminal enhancements, creating a larger departure lounge and international baggage hall to improve the passenger experience.
Nick Jones, chief executive at Newcastle Airport, added: “We are incredibly proud to be named Star UK Airport at the Travel Bulletin Star Awards for the fourth year in a row.
“This achievement reflects the hard work of our teams and the strong, trusted partnerships we have built with travel agents, tour operators and the wider travel industry.
“These collaborations are key to delivering greater connectivity and choice for our passengers and it is fantastic that our efforts have once again been recognised by those who we work so closely with.”
