People first approach fuels retrofit firm’s growth
A South Shields-based retrofit company is celebrating a year of expansion and national success.
CPH Retrofit, formerly Classic Plumbing and Heating, has grown rapidly, delivering energy efficiency projects across the UK.
Based at One Trinity Green business centre, the family-run business employs 12 people, all from South Tyneside, with several family members forming its core team.
Turnover has risen around 120 per cent per year since 2020.
Bosses attribute the firm’s success to a combination of skilled teams, strong client relationships and its people-first philosophy.
Managing director Mark Crozier said: “For us, CPH Retrofit is more than a company.
“We’re a team, fully committed to driving positive change in the retrofit and energy efficiency sector.
“Our people are our greatest strength.
“We take time to understand clients and every household we work with, so we meet the highest standards while making a genuine difference to residents’ comfort and wellbeing.”
The CPH Retrofit team
Finance director Carolyn Crozier added: “It’s a point of pride that 100 per cent of our workforce comes from South Tyneside.
“We’re passionate about creating skilled jobs in our hometown and showing that South Shields can lead the way in green energy and heating innovation.”
CPH Retrofit works with housing associations, councils and organisations such as Dodds Renewable Energy and Saffron Housing Group.
Its teams conduct detailed assessments of ageing heating systems, provide compliance reports and co-ordinate the installation of boilers, insulation and other energy-saving measures, helping households cut energy costs and their carbon footprints.
The firm has strengthened its team over the past year, promoting Reece Mawson from apprentice to heating engineer and retrofit coordinator, appointing Lesley Willis as lead administrator, and welcoming apprentices Benjamin Lee and Daisy Mae Fairs.
Lewis Crozier has also joined the technical team, adding further expertise.
Sean Crozier, senior technical auditor, added: “As we grow, our focus stays the same: delivering quality retrofit solutions that make a real difference to households and the environment.
“We’re proud to be a modern business with traditional values that are helping us make a national impact while staying true to our local roots.”
Councillor Margaret Meling, lead member for economic growth and transport at South Tyneside Council, which has supported CPH Retrofit’s growth through signposting to local initiatives and programmes, added: “To be creating jobs and forging an excellent reputation in a sector that is helping deliver positive environmental impact is fantastic and I congratulate CPH Retrofit for its ongoing success.”
