Spiritfilled modernises cask warehouse

A Fife-based whisky cask company is ramping up investment in its storage operations.

Spiritfilled has upgraded its Braeside Bond warehouse in Newburgh with a bespoke cloud-based software platform called Vapour, designed to digitise the entire cask management process.

The system allows cask owners and importers to track their stock from anywhere in the world via a mobile app, while simplifying operations for warehouse managers.

Bosses say the software upgrade aims to enhance transparency, streamline operations, and support continued growth in the whisky cask storage market.

Warehouse manager Torin Currie said: “You can tell the platform has been built around the needs of spirit producers and cask managers.

“From an operational perspective, this is going to be a gamechanger not only for us but for our clients as well.

“A key feature of Vapour is its 3D mapping, allowing users to visualise exactly where their casks are stored.

“This interactive tool provides real-time insights into a cask’s ageing performance, helping cask owners track spirit maturation with confidence.

“The customer experience is also improved as they can view their assets, check cask status, and access documentation with full transparency, which is something we are passionate about.”

The 20,000sq ft bond, which has capacity for up to 14,000 casks, has seen significant recent investment from Spiritfilled, whose ambassador is Scotland and British and Irish Lions’ rugby star Finn Russell, including a new racking system and its first electric forklift truck, reflecting its growing international client base with investors from locations such as Hong Kong and Canada.

Co-founder and chief executive Russell Spratley added: “We have invested heavily and there is more to come as we continue to build trust with our customers.

“We want to do things properly to ensure the best possible experience and outcomes for our clients and investing in the right areas is key to that.”
