Airport announces extra flights to Alicante

A North East airport is set to offer more routes to the Spanish Mediterranean next summer.

Teesside International Airport will increase Ryanair flights to Alicante from three to four per week from March 2026 until October, departing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The airline also operates year-round flights from Teesside to Alicante and Malaga, with summer services to Faro, Majorca and Corfu.

Other carriers such as KLM and TUI continue to offer links to Amsterdam and Majorca, providing passengers with more international travel options from the region.

Phil Forster, managing director of Teesside Airport, said: “The numbers show Alicante has been a big hit from Teesside.

“Ryanair have been great to work with, and their team has recognised our success, backed us with extra flights in 2026 – and offered up a new and improved schedule for next summer.

"Our passenger numbers are on a steady rise on our key European routes, and our team work tirelessly to make travelling from Teesside an enjoyable, personal and stress-free experience.

“Rest assured, we’re hard at work to secure more destinations on our departure boards in 2026.”

Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen added: “The popularity of our flights to Alicante shows our airport is well and truly on the up.

“I delivered on my promise to bring back Malaga flights from Teesside – and now we’re building on our success with more summer flights and links to Alicante and Malaga all year round.

“Our airport team are working day in, day out to deliver on calls for more routes from Teesside, and this increased schedule for our Alicante route just goes to show that demand is there for the flights that people want.

“With more great routes direct from Teesside and growing international companies expanding rapidly at our business park, we’re building a bright future for our brilliant airport.”
