Avison Young names Glasgow managing director
Global commercial real estate advisor Avison Young has promoted Iain King to regional managing director for its Glasgow office.
The firm provides advisory services across commercial offices, retail, industrial, healthcare, student accommodation, hotels and build-to-rent sectors.
Iain joined Avison Young in 2023 as principal and head of building and project consultancy for Scotland, bringing over 25 years’ experience as a chartered building surveyor.
He has advised major clients including Aviva and Virgin Media and led multi-disciplinary teams on significant Scottish projects, from retail parks and industrial assets to build-to-rent schemes.
In his new role, Iain will oversee a growing Glasgow team, advising on high-profile developments and driving the firm’s continued growth within the city.
He said: “I’m delighted to take up the role of regional managing director for Glasgow and excited to have the opportunity to support the growth ambitions of our business.
“We have talented teams across our firm, and I look forward to working alongside my colleagues both locally and nationally to ensure we are fully aligned, delivering market-leading services across all sectors.
“Whilst market conditions remain challenging, the quality of the people working at Avison Young presents huge potential to ensure we deliver top results for our clients.”
Stephen Cowperthwaite, principal and managing director, UK regions at Avison Young, added: “As a business, we’re as committed as ever to strengthening our presence across the regions of the UK and it’s a core element of our growth strategy.
“Iain’s appointment as regional managing director for Glasgow will be a real enabler in terms of driving forward this ambition.
“Glasgow is a major economic hub, with increasing investment activity and big-name occupiers being drawn to the city.
“Under Iain’s leadership, I’m confident that our Glasgow office will continue to thrive, building on the brilliant work already being done and reinforcing Avison Young’s position at the forefront of the city’s commercial real estate market.”
