Sheffield scrubland set for urban revival
A Sheffield site once overrun with weeds is set to become a vibrant new neighbourhood.
Capital&Centric, the social impact developer behind Eyewitness Works and Brunswick, has submitted plans to transform the Fitzwilliam area just outside the city centre.
The scheme, if approved, will deliver 192 homes with communal lounges, a plant-filled courtyard and a rooftop terrace, alongside ground-floor space for an indie café or bar.
Streets around Fitzwilliam will gain trees, benches, lighting and artwork celebrating Sheffield’s industrial heritage, creating a pedestrian link to Eyewitness Works.
The homes at Fitzwilliam will feature Scandi-designed HAY pieces, while Capital&Centric’s Ollo team will manage rentals, maintenance and community events, bringing a fresh approach to city living and shared spaces for residents and neighbours alike.
Tom Wilmot, joint managing director at Capital&Centric, said: “Fitzwilliam isn’t another bland block of apartments.
“What we’re creating here is a community where people actually want to spend time; that means homes that feel like home, shared spaces to make new friends, and proper greenery to unwind in.
“Eyewitness already has a great buzz and Fitzwilliam is really going to add to that energy.
“It’s been great to chat with people about what we’ve got in store, and we can’t wait to make it a reality.”
