Ruck engineers cleaner future for water firm

An engineer has strengthened ties with a utilities firm through an equipment upgrade.

Ruck Engineering has installed a hot pressure washer system at Northumbrian Water’s Bran Sands treatment works.

Bosses say the work extends a 25-year-plus relationship between the Darlington-based company and the County Durham-headquartered utilities provider.

They add the zero-emission apparatus – which has replaced a diesel-heated system at Bran Sands, near Middlesbrough – marks a “major shift towards cleaner alternatives”.

Ruck Engineering has supplied industrial cleaning equipment to Northumbrian Water’s North East sites since 1997, supporting works at bases including Willington, Consett and Pity Me, in County Durham; Seaham, in east Durham, and Hexham, in Northumberland.

Simon Ruck, managing director of Ruck Engineering, said: “We are very proud of our long-standing relationship with Northumbrian Water.

“The Bran Sands equipment demonstrates how we are helping companies reduce carbon emissions across their operations, while continuing to deliver the performance and reliability they need.”

Lyn Coates, bioresources logistics manager at Northumbrian Water, added: “Strong supply chain relationships are essential to the way we deliver for customers and communities.

“Working with businesses like Ruck Engineering means we can access innovation, strengthen our regional economy and ensure our sites are supported by partners who understand our needs.”
