Newcastle fitness club flexes into bigger home

A Newcastle-based fitness business is set to move into a new, larger city centre site following rapid growth since its launch less than three years ago.

Newcastle Fitness Club, founded in 2023 by personal trainer Josh Hall, has expanded its membership almost nine-fold and will relocate to Spring Garden Lane, close to Newcastle United’s St James’ Park.

The move from its original base at Lynwood Business Park reflects the club’s growing popularity and commitment to fostering an inclusive, community-driven approach to fitness.

Josh said: “I’m so excited to be expanding Newcastle Fitness Club.

“When I first opened the gym, I knew how passionate I was about working out - but I’ve since discovered an even deeper passion for helping others become the best versions of themselves.

“There’s nothing more rewarding than supporting people with their goals – whether that’s coming off blood pressure medication, fitting back into a favourite pair of jeans, keeping up with their kids, or even reversing diabetes.

“Creating a space where people feel comfortable, have fun, and achieve real results while forming genuine connections is incredible.

“I feel so lucky to call this my job.

“This new venue means we can support even more people across Newcastle, and I can’t wait to keep growing this amazing community.”

The club offers a diverse timetable including strength training, cardio, Hyrox-inspired workouts and monthly beach sessions at Cullercoats (see below).

Its new premises have been fully refurbished with upgraded equipment to provide a more spacious and modern environment for members.

Keven Barker-McGill has been a member of the club since it first opened.

He said: “I can honestly say Newcastle Fitness Club has been life changing, it has completely transformed my mindset and body.

“I’ve lost weight, built confidence, and discovered a genuine love for fitness.

“Josh is amazing; his zest for what he does is contagious, and he pushes you to become the best version of yourself.

“If someone had told me three years ago I’d be where I am today, I’d never have believed them.

“I couldn’t say burpee, let alone do one.

“The community here, from Josh to every member, is so supportive.

“They truly champion you every step of the way.

“It feels like being part of something special.”

Michele Davison, who joined the club just over two years ago, added: “Entering my 60s, I was feeling quite down about my fitness and weight.

“Since finding NE1 Fitness I have regained my fitness, lost a few kilos, and most importantly found an incredible group of like-minded individuals, ranging from teenagers to folk my age and older.

“Josh’s approach is truly inspiring.

“He manages to hold a class of 12 together, all of us doing the same thing, and gets the absolute best out of each of us despite our differences in age and fitness.

“Simply put, he cares, and that’s why his members’ loyalty is second to none!”

The new site will officially open on Sunday, November 23 with a launch event featuring taster workouts, refreshments and opportunities for visitors to meet Josh and the club’s expanding community.
