Ouseburn favourite Kiln fires up a new era
A Newcastle restaurant known for blending craft and community is entering an exciting new chapter with a refreshed look and reimagined menu.
Kiln, based in the heart of Ouseburn, has relaunched this winter, marking a new era for the much-loved venue founded by Rich Cullen and Geffen Yoeli-Rimmer.
Originally a small ceramics studio built around a second-hand kiln, the space has evolved into one of Newcastle’s best-known dining destinations, renowned for its warm atmosphere and creative flair.
The redesigned interior draws inspiration from pottery’s natural palette, with terracotta walls, wooden furnishings and soft, red-hued lighting.
Diners can enjoy front-row views of the bakery’s bread ovens or gather at the central bar, which serves local beers, small-batch wines and seasonal cocktails.
Kiln’s new menu celebrates Middle Eastern-inspired flavours rooted in open-flame cooking.
From shakshuka and sourdough brunches to mezze, grilled meats and handmade pide, dishes showcase seasonal ingredients and bold flavours.
Desserts such as rose water rice pudding and pistachio baklava round off the offering.
Staying true to its founding spirit of creativity and connection, Kiln continues to fuse craftsmanship, cuisine and community in one of Newcastle’s most distinctive dining experiences.
