Hodgson Sayers welcomes new apprentice cohort
Hodgson Sayers has strengthened its commitment to developing young talent with the appointment of nine new apprentices across its operations.
The apprentices have joined in roles spanning flat roofing, bricklaying and groundwork, bringing the total number of apprentices employed by the Stanley-based company to thirteen.
Each apprentice is paired with an experienced mentor and will follow a programme that combines structured on-the-job training with classroom learning at Derwentside College in Consett.
The specialist roofing, building maintenance and security products firm operates nationally from its County Durham headquarters, with a further base in Nottingham.
Its workforce includes contracts managers, joiners, roofers and bricklayers servicing a broad public-sector and utilities client base.
The company’s investment in apprenticeships forms part of a wider commitment to supporting young people across the region.
Hodgson Sayers works with North East Museums to promote STEAM learning, helping to introduce more than 100,000 young people each year to skills and career pathways in construction, engineering and the built environment.
Peter Condren, operations director at Hodgson Sayers, said: “I always enjoy seeing a new cohort of apprentices join the business.
“It’s the start of their careers and there’s a real sense of energy and potential in the air.
“From day one, they are assigned a mentor and begin learning on the job, discovering what it takes to become skilled tradespeople.
“Apprenticeships aren’t just about learning a trade, they’re about problem-solving, teamwork and taking pride in every job.
“They bring new ideas and up-to-date practices and methods, which help keep the business current and competitive.
“Investing in their development is also an investment in Hodgson Sayers itself, ensuring we maintain high standards for our clients and securing the company’s longevity.
“Watching these young people grow, develop confidence, start shaping their futures and embed themselves within the company is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.”
