Caulmert appoints new planning director
Engineering, environmental and planning consultancy Caulmert has strengthened its national planning capability with the appointment of experienced chartered planner Stephen Ottewell as director of planning.
Stephen joins the engineering, environmental and planning consultancy as it continues to expand its UK footprint across offices in Bangor, St Asaph, Altrincham, Nottingham and Kent.
He brings almost 20 years’ experience from an international business process outsourcing and professional services company, where he led multi-site teams in Manchester, North Tyneside, Belfast, Breckland and Cape Town.
Most recently, Stephen served as business development director for government and housing place services, covering planning, property, housing, building control and highways.
With an MBA and extensive leadership experience, he will be based at Caulmert’s Altrincham office and play a key role in enhancing the firm’s planning offer.
He said: “The growth potential at Caulmert is one thing that caught the eye, and it will be great to be involved in developing the planning division.
“What is evident is that there is plenty of opportunity to build on an impressive client base and drive the company forward.
“I’d moved away from the day-to-day practical side of planning and that was something I wanted to get back to, so this role will utilise my strengths perfectly.
“There’s a strong core of planners here and I can’t wait to work with them to help enhance the team in terms of numbers and the array of clients we have.
“Being involved in projects at all stages and liaising with other divisions within Caulmert is something that really excites me, as I feel as though we can grow quickly.”
Founded in 2008, Caulmert continues to pursue an ambitious growth strategy, supported by multidisciplinary expertise and the use of BIM to ISO 19650 standard across major projects.
Caulmert managing director Mike Caulfield added: “We’ve been looking to deepen the talent pool within the division and Stephen’s arrival does just that.
“As a company, we have strong forward momentum with new opportunities and numerous repeat clients, and we are determined to build on that.”
