North East young talent shines bright
A North East youth organisation has celebrated the region’s community spirit and young talent.
NE Youth welcomed almost 400 young people, supporters, members and guests to its Impact Awards at The Grand Hotel, Gosforth Park.
The event shone a light on the individuals and organisations that make up its network, with an energised atmosphere fuelled by performances from MK Diamonds Cheerleaders, Room 14 DofE Band and singer Jack McQuillan.
Hosted by three young people from Peer Action Collective (PAC) – Penny, Lucy and Arthur – the ceremony celebrated achievements across the region, with their enthusiasm keeping the audience engaged throughout the evening.
One of the standout moments was the Young Volunteer of the Year award, presented to Jannah Rahman Rehman for her work with Projects 4 Change.
Jannah said: “I’m still shaking! This award made has made me realise how much work I’ve done and how important youth work is... and how I love working and supporting young people.”
Judges faced tough decisions, with nominees across all categories recognised for their outstanding contributions.
The event was supported by a range of sponsors, including David Gray Solicitors, Point North, Sunderland University, Gateshead College and Pale Fountain.
Once again, the Impact Awards highlighted the talent, dedication and community-mindedness that sit at the heart of NE Youth’s work and the wider network it continues to champion.
Jon Niblo, chief executive at NE Youth, added: “The Impact Awards showcase the best of what happens when young people are given opportunities to thrive.
“Times are tough for a lot of people right now but we need to continue to invest in our young people.
“The energy, commitment and creativity we’ve seen tonight never ceases to amaze me.
“Big thanks to our sponsors and everyone who made it such an incredible evening.”
