Plans approved for 500-home city development
A near 500-home development has been approved.
Kellen Homes and Great Places Housing Association have been backed to create an estate near Manchester’s Etihad Campus.
Bosses say the 498-property venture – on Riverpark Trading Estate land – will include 277 apartments across five buildings and 221 two, three and four-bed homes.
They add 43 per cent of homes will be affordable, with the remaining 57 per cent delivered as private rented sector housing.
Construction is set to begin early next year.
Mark Waite, Kellen Homes’ planning director, said: “This development delivers a genuinely balanced mix of homes in an accessible and sustainable location.
“Almost half of the properties will be affordable, which is a significant contribution that responds directly to local need.”
Ellie Philcox, director at Euan Kellie Property Solutions, which submitted the housing blueprint to Manchester City Council earlier this year, added: “This marks an important step in regenerating an underutilised site into a place that people will want to live and put down roots.
“The scheme offers range, choice and affordability, and will help Manchester continue to grow in a positive way.”
The development is backed by firms including AEW Architects; CW Studio; environmental consultant e3p; highway consultant Curtins; viability consultant Roger Hannah; Arcaero; Townsend; Enzygo and Ensphere.
