S&W expands into Scotland with latest deal

An accountancy and advisory firm has expanded its UK footprint with a strategic move into Scotland.

S&W has acquired Haines Watts Scotland, adding offices in Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy and Stirling to its growing network.

Bringing 39 new colleagues into the business, including managing partner Graeme Miller, the deal follows last year’s acquisitions of Haines Watts’ teams in Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle.

Andrew Wilkes, chief executive at S&W, said: “Graeme’s team has built a strong reputation in Scotland, and this acquisition gives us a fantastic opportunity to introduce the S&W brand to this important market.

“I’m delighted to welcome our new colleagues and look forward to working together to support clients across Scotland and beyond.

“This move reflects our continued commitment to growth, with strong backing from Apax Funds, and reinforces our ambition to be the go-to professional services firm for dynamic businesses and private clients with complex needs.”

The Scotland-based team provides accountancy and advisory services for owner-managed businesses and individuals, covering audit, business outsourcing, tax advisory and compliance.

Graeme says joining S&W will allow the group to offer a broader, fully integrated service across the region while supporting its wider UK growth strategy.

He added: “Partnering with S&W marks an exciting new chapter for our team and our clients.

“With the backing of a fast-growing group and access to an extensive depth of services, we can offer greater strategic support to businesses and private clients with complex needs across Scotland.

“Our focus remains on strong local relationships, now enhanced by the scale and resources of S&W, which positions us perfectly for ambitious growth.”

Backed by Apax Funds, S&W launched in March 2025 and has since completed five acquisitions as it increases scale and capability nationwide.

Donna Bulmer, executive team member at S&W, added: “I’ve known Graeme for many years and greatly admire the business he has built.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Graeme and his team again as he leads S&W’s launch into Scotland.

“This acquisition helps drive our continued expansion across the UK and creates a great opportunity for us to provide even more clients with a broad range of services.”
