Tech firm wins nationwide partnership deal

A North East technology business is expanding its reach after securing a national contract.

RMT Technology, the specialist tech division of RMT Accountants & Business Advisors, has extended its long-standing relationship with Cyclife UK after winning a competitive tender to deliver a full managed-service partnership across all of the company’s UK operations.

The contract is expected to create new service desk and field engineering roles, with additional staff already appointed in Southampton to support operations in the south of England.

Bosses say the contract will help the Gosforth-based firm strengthen its position in the energy and environment sectors and showcase its ability to meet the complex requirements of multisite clients.

Stephen McNickle, commercial director at RMT Technology, said: “Our deep understanding of Cyclife’s operational environment, our strong track record in highly regulated sectors and our ability to deliver robust, secure solutions at scale have all played a part in this contract success and we’re thrilled to be extending our relationship with them.

“Winning this tender demonstrates our team’s ability to meet the stringent security, compliance and uptime requirements of world-class operators like Cyclife, and we’re investing in both our team and our facilities to ensure that our people, processes and technology are all ready to take on these sorts of enterprise-level opportunities.”

Cyclife UK, a subsidiary of the EDF Group, supports nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management projects across multiple sites.

RMT Technology has provided IT support at Cyclife UK’s Workington facility for the past six years, and will now deliver nationwide day-to-day support, threat monitoring and long-term infrastructure planning.

Andrew Laker, chief transformation officer at Cyclife UK, added: “We are delighted to reaffirm our trusted partnership with RMT Technology as our chosen IT partner.

“Over the years, RMT has consistently demonstrated deep expertise and unwavering commitment to the high standards required in nuclear security.

“As we embark on a significant integration with our sister company, Cyclife Aquila, RMT’s support will be vital in ensuring seamless continuity of service across our IT landscape.

“Their understanding of our business drivers and strategic goals gives us full confidence in their ability to deliver the quality and reliability we expect.”

RMT Technology provides security-led IT solutions across strategy, infrastructure, information security and data management, alongside a consultancy service helping organisations identify and resolve gaps in technology and cyber resilience.

The business recently moved into a new 1800sq ft office and build area as part of wider growth plans, with at least 15 new roles expected over the next two years.

It forms part of accountancy group Sumer, which employs more than 2200 staff across 40 offices.
