Banks Homes sets out Sedgefield plans
A County Durham-based homebuilder is preparing to showcase proposals for a new residential development.
Banks Homes is bringing forward plans for a 50-home scheme on the south eastern side of Sedgefield, with the proposals due to be unveiled at a community event next week.
The development would deliver a mix of family homes, including 20 per cent affordable housing, alongside a biodiversity net gain of at least ten per cent.
Located on land bordered by the A689 and Stockton Road, the scheme includes a new access junction and homes fitted with low-carbon heating systems rather than gas.
Local residents will be able to view the plans and share feedback at Sedgefield Parish Hall on Front Street from 1:30pm to 6:30pm on Tuesday, December 2, where members of the project team will be available to discuss the proposals.
Feedback gathered at the event will help shape a planning application due to be submitted to Durham County Council over the winter, with construction targeted for summer 2027 subject to approval.
Banks Homes, part of the Banks Group, continues to expand its regional portfolio with active developments in West Rainton, Yarm and Hambleton, along with further sites planned near Stockton and at High Shincliffe, near Durham City.
Kate Culverhouse, community relations manager at the Banks Group, said: “Our Sedgefield site offers excellent links both into and away from the town, and would give more local people and families a greater opportunity to stay in the area.
“This will be a high-quality development in which we’re looking to create sustainable, contemporary living spaces, and we’re confident that there will be strong demand for these new homes.
“Feedback from local people is essential in helping us finalise our development designs and we hope to welcome as many people as possible to our forthcoming community event.”
