Consultancies merge to build stronger service

A Scotland-based construction consultancy partnership is taking shape as two growing firms join forces to expand capability and strengthen client support.

Reid Mitchell Ltd and HD Property Consultants have merged to create Reid Mitchell HD, an integrated practice offering project management, cost management, building surveying, CDM consultancy and fund monitoring.

Both companies, founded in 2018, have grown in parallel across complementary sectors, and the merger brings their expertise together under one unified service.

The new business has also moved to an employee ownership model, securing long-term independence and aligning with the values embedded in both firms.

Clients will continue to work with existing teams and contact points, while benefiting from an expanded pool of in-house specialists and greater resourcing resilience.

Greig Mitchell, one of the founding directors of Reid Mitchell, said: “The employee ownership model works for our new business – our commitment to our team has been at the forefront of the growth of both businesses.

“We have grown a team of exceptional individuals who consistently deliver for our clients with a commitment to service.

“Employee ownership enables us to continue our current path, motivating and empowering the collective team, and supporting us to continue to recruit the best people in our industry.”

With a combined team of 38 across Glasgow and Edinburgh, Reid Mitchell HD is also launching a new Aberdeen office to support growth in the North East and service existing frameworks.

The merged consultancy brings an established track record across corporate workplaces, hotels, higher education, commercial projects and the wider public sector, with further expansion planned through targeted sector focus.

Donald Reid, one of the founding directors of Reid Mitchell, added: “Clients increasingly demand accountability from their consultants.

“From the first discussion with Drew and his team, it was clear that both businesses were completely aligned in our commitment to delivering exceptional services for our clients.

“By bringing the businesses together we are immediately extending our service offering to our respective clients.”

Drew Russell, a founding director of HD Property Consultants, added: “Both businesses have been built by delivering a director-led, premium service to our clients.

“This merger continues this ethos and will provide our clients with access to new services and a deeper pool of resource whilst maintaining our focus on service.

“The merger supports our continued investment in innovation and growth, enabling us to compete effectively for larger scale commissions and frameworks.”

The merger and transition to employee ownership were supported by Beattie Muir, Lindsays and Co-ownership Solutions.
