SMH Group expands with Mitchells agreement
An accounting and business advisory firm has expanded.
SMH Group has added Mitchells Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers to its stable.
Bosses say the move for the Chesterfield-based operator “marks an exciting new chapter… that will enhance client support”.
They add all staff have been retained, with the business operating under the SMH Mitchells brand.
Founded as Sutton McGrath Hartley in the mid-1990s, SMH Group provides services including audit and assurance, corporate finance and wills and probate from offices across Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
Jonathon Dickens, SMH Group chief executive, said: “Mitchells is a respected firm with a long history in the region.
“Their values align closely with ours, and their team brings a strong mix of experience and local insight.”
Andrew McDaid, Mitchells’ partner, added: “We have always been proud of the strong relationships we have built in Chesterfield, and this merger allows us to protect that legacy while giving us the support and resources to grow.
“We are confident this is the right move for our firm.”
SMH Group’s wider portfolio includes Rotherham-based SMH Haywoods, Buxton’s SMH Bullock Woodburn and SMH Sheards, in Huddersfield.
SMH Group was supported by CMP Legal on the deal, with Shakespeare Martineau advising Mitchells.
Mason Thomas Law oversaw property legal work, with Cortus providing financial due diligence.
