Plans submitted to expand Integra 61
A County Durham property developer is preparing to significantly expand its business and distribution park.
Citrus Durham has submitted an outline planning application to Durham County Council for a £340 million extension to its Integra 61 mixed-use development at J61 of the A1(M).
The proposal follows a public consultation and sets out plans for a further three million sq ft of employment space to the west of the existing scheme.
Integra 61’s first phase is already nearing completion, with 90 per cent of its £400 million development now delivered.
Bosses say the next phase is expected to create around 300 hundred jobs during construction and operation, with a mix of storage, distribution and manufacturing units designed to meet demand from regional firms and new investors.
The outline application seeks approval for the overarching principles of the scheme, with detailed designs to follow through future reserved matters submissions.
Delivery of the Bowburn Development Route in partnership with Durham County Council would be required at a later stage.
James Taylor, regional director at Citrus Durham, said: “We are delighted to have now submitted this significant planning application for the second phase of Integra 61, building on the success of phase one and firmly establishing Integra as a premier business location in the region.
“Securing planning consent is an important early stage in the journey to bringing this phase to fruition and we look forward to working with all stakeholders during this process.”
Integra 61 is already home to occupiers including Amazon, Tesla, Costa and Greggs, along with an incoming £4 million EG On The Move petrol station and Starbucks drive-thru, as well as new housing that is being developed by Persimmon and Bellway.
