Ethical Planning Celebrates Regional Win and National Recognition at Prestigious Planning Awards

Ethical Planning, a small family-run planning consultancy based in Newcastle, is celebrating a major achievement after winning North East Mid-Size Planning Consultancy of the Year at the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Regional Planning Awards. The win placed the business among the top performers in the planning sector, and their success didn’t stop there.

Following the regional victory, Ethical Planning advanced to the National Awards, where they were announced as runners-up and received a special commendation, recognising the outstanding quality of their work and their contribution to the planning profession across the UK.

For a business that began with a simple mission: to provide honest, transparent, people-centred planning support, the recognition marks a milestone moment. Ethical Planning has grown steadily in recent years, yet continues to hold onto the principles it was founded on: honesty, integrity and a commitment to ethical practice.

As a family-run consultancy, the team prides itself on delivering a personal and supportive service. Their approach focuses on clear communication, practical solutions and treating every project, large or small, with the same level of care and attention.

This ethos has been reflected in the wide-ranging and high-profile projects Ethical Planning has supported across the region and beyond. Recent local successes include securing planning permission for the new Northumberland Line, obtaining approval for one of only a handful of Grand Designs–style homes in Northumberland, and working closely with local charity The People’s Kitchen on their redevelopment plans. The consultancy has also supported the delivery of new padel courts across the region and provided guidance on urgent emergency remediation works, demonstrating just a small selection of the breadth and impact of their expertise.

Speaking about the awards, the team said they were “honoured and humbled” to receive both the regional title and the national commendation, especially among such strong competition from across the country. “This recognition is a testament to how much heart we put into every project,” said Managing Director, Matthew Creedy. “We may be a small consultancy, but we work hard, we care deeply about what we do, and we’re proud to show that ethical, client-focused planning can stand out on a national stage.”

With this achievement under their belt, Ethical Planning aims to continue growing while staying true to the values that define them. The team says they are committed to supporting even more clients in the year ahead, always with the same integrity, honesty and down-to-earth service that has helped them stand out in the industry.
