New cohort enters industry scholarships
A North East education provider is supporting the next generation of engineering and digital talent through a growing industry-backed scholarship programme.
Middlesbrough College has welcomed 41 new scholars onto its engineering and digital scholarship scheme for the 2025/26 academic year, following a competitive application and interview process involving 23 employer partners.
The initiative connects students with leading regional businesses and offers a £50 weekly bursary jointly funded by the College and each employer.
Alongside financial support, students receive mentoring, industry experience and tailored skills development designed to strengthen their career pathways.
Many engineering scholars will train at the College’s £12 million TTE centre at Middlehaven, while digital scholars study at MC Digital’s high-tech facilities.
Matt Telling, group director of business engagement and partnerships at Middlesbrough College Group, said: “The scholarship event truly showcased the strength of our partnership with local employers and the incredible potential of our students.
“This programme gives young people a unique opportunity to build real industry experience, and we couldn’t be prouder of the commitment and talent demonstrated by this year’s scholars.”
