Leadership transition signals next chapter for Cleanology
Award-winning commercial cleaning, facilities management and property maintenance firm Cleanology has appointed Dominic Ponniah as its new chairman after he stepped down as chief executive.
He will continue to support the business through a handover period until the end of the year, before focusing fully on his board position.
Dominic, who co-founded the company in 1999, said it remains “business as usual” and will work closely with the leadership team to support Cleanology’s ambition to double in size over the next three years, with a continued focus on innovation, sustainability and industry-leading standards.
He said: “Twenty-two years ago, I agreed to join the business and help my mother with the marketing for three months.
“Three months turned into ten years and then ten years turned into 20 years.
“I was having too much fun to stop.
“It’s always difficult for founders of businesses to get the timing right as to when the founder steps away and replaces themselves.
“I believe that the timing is right to do that now.”
Alongside his new role, Dominic plans to write a book, take flying lessons, explore political involvement and launch his fifth business.
He will also continue championing causes close to him, including the Real Living Wage and The Hygiene Bank, the beneficiary of Cleanology’s annual fundraiser, which has raised £151,000 in five years.
Cleanology, headquartered in Vauxhall with regional offices across the UK, recently marked its 25th anniversary with a major rebrand and continued growth, mobilising £2 million of new contracts in a single month.
