Airport event to rally support for armed forces
A North East business community is being encouraged to show its backing for the Armed Forces at a special event next month.
Teesside International Airport is opening bookings for its Bugle Breakfast on February 12, where organisations will be invited to sign the Armed Forces Covenant – a national commitment to supporting serving personnel, veterans and their families.
The event aims to strengthen employer engagement by highlighting how the Covenant helps ensure fair treatment and meaningful opportunities for those connected to the Armed Forces.
Senior regional representatives, including the Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham and leaders from the Tees Valley Combined Authority, will attend the event, alongside members of 8th Rifles, who will perform live before networking begins.
Businesses will have the chance to meet reservists, dignitaries and Armed Forces advocates to learn more about the benefits of signing the pledge.
Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen said: “We’re proud to stand with businesses in backing our Armed Forces community and show what Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool are all about.
“I was proud to sign the Covenant on the authority’s behalf almost six years ago and it’s great the Airport has joined the cause this year.
“We want more of our brilliant local businesses and organisations to sign up to back our service personnel and their loved ones who’ve given so much to our country.”
Organisations must register in advance to complete the necessary checks and receive certificates confirming their commitment.
