PLT Training expands with £1.25 million hub

A West Midlands training provider is set to grow its operations with a significant investment in new facilities.

PLT Training has committed £1.25 million to create a dedicated health and safety centre of excellence in Oldbury, transforming an 82,250sq ft warehouse into a purpose-built training hub.

The new site on Pearsall Drive features classrooms and specialist zones for areas including forklifts, working at height, manual handling, first aid and confined space training, supporting more than 10,000 learners each year.

As the company approaches its 20th year, the investment marks a milestone in its growth from a one-person operation to a national provider working with more than 1500 employers, including the likes of Assa Abloy, Arvato SCM, AO Recycling, Williams F1 and Red Bull Racing.

Bosses say the expanded centre will allow PLT Training to deliver an extensive range of accredited and industry-focused courses both onsite and across the UK, supported by a team of instructors with hands-on experience across multiple sectors.

Kath Lang, operations director of PLT Training, said: “We had grown rapidly over the last five years and felt the time was right to look for a larger training space that allowed us to do more delivery at our own facility.

“The space in Oldbury came up and we jumped at the opportunity.

“It was a pretty blank canvas, which was good…this gave us the chance to shape the training zones exactly how our instructors wanted them, which gives the best learning experience for our clients.”

Kath added: “We’ve taken on an extra couple of people as part of the move and plan for more to join the team of 17 instructors in the new year.

“The feedback on the new centre from existing and new customers has been great and we’re already planning further enhancements and new capabilities as we go into 2026.

“2025 has been a great year for PLT but we’re not stopping there.

“Plans have been signed off to introduce overhead crane facilities and PASMA courses at Oldbury, whilst we are looking for acquisition opportunities that could increase our geographic reach.”
