Finnmark’s growth plans heat up with funding boost

A North East sauna supplier is set to expand after securing new investment to support its growth plans.

Finnmark Sauna has received a six-figure funding package from Barclays to accelerate its development ahead of its tenth anniversary in March. 

Bosses at the Durham-based company say they will use the investment to build a larger production facility, create new skilled roles and strengthen innovation in sauna manufacturing, digital systems and supply chain resilience, helping it meet rising demand across the UK and internationally.

Jake Newport, founder and chief executive of Finnmark Sauna, said: “This funding from Barclays is a real vote of confidence in Finnmark and in the North East. 

“It enables us to scale responsibly and invest in innovations and technologies that will keep our operations robust for years to come. 

“Whilst we have an international reach and a market-leading UK presence, we are proud to be building a business that is growing in the region for the region.”

Finnmark Sauna has doubled its workforce over the past year and plans to grow headcount by a further 25 per cent as it prepares for wider European expansion. 

Its profile has been boosted by a series of standout installations, including the UK’s highest sauna at The Shard, the largest at Canary Wharf’s arc, and the first floating sauna at Liverpool Docks, alongside projects for Premiership football clubs and high-profile clients.

“This funding allows us to build on everything we have achieved so far and move into the next chapter with confidence. 

“The support we have received from Barclays and our local community gives us a strong foundation as we continue to grow.”

Work on its expanded facility will begin early next year.
