Air ambulance lifted by engineer support
An industrial cleaning equipment firm has boosted an emergency medical organisation with a donation.
Ruck Engineering has handed over a pedestrian floor sweeper to the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
Bosses say the apparatus will be used to maintain the charity’s aircraft hangar, based at Urlay Nook, near Darlington.
Operating two helicopters and a fleet of rapid response vehicles, the Great North Air Ambulance Service responds to thousands of call-outs every year.
Darlington-based Ruck Engineering serves businesses and public sector organisations nationally, providing machinery, maintenance and consumables to industries ranging from manufacturing to healthcare.
Joe Garcia, Great North Air Ambulance Service chief executive, said: “We’re very grateful to Ruck Engineering for their generous donation.
“The sweeper will make a real difference in maintaining a clean and safe environment in our hangar.
“Aviation requires a meticulous level of accuracy and maintenance, and this equipment will be fundamental to the cleanliness of the airside environment.”
Simon Ruck, Ruck Engineering managing director, added: “The Great North Air Ambulance Service does such incredible work, and we wanted to make a contribution that would have a practical benefit.
“This donation also continues a long-standing connection between my family and the charity.
“When my father, who founded the business, was mayor of Darlington, he selected the air ambulance as his chosen charity.
“It’s a privilege to play a small part in supporting its operations.”
