HousingAI names chief executive ahead of 2026 launch
HousingAI, a new AI-powered knowledge platform built specifically for the social housing sector, has appointed Mike Ellis as chief executive as it prepares to launch in 2026.
Mike brings extensive leadership experience across public sector transformation, including work with NHS England, alongside senior roles as managing director within mid-sized and large organisations.
He joins as HousingAI enters an advanced testing phase with housing professionals from across the sector.
Mike said: “AI can be a game-changer for housing providers and operations, but it has to be AI that works exclusively for the sector. HousingAI was developed specifically for this reason, and I'm excited to help launch it into the sector.
“Constantly updated with the latest housing guidance, legislation and regulations, it will help ensure housing providers are operating correctly and efficiently.
“It has been built for the sector by the sector, meaning the knowledge it produces and shares is directly relevant and helps users save both time and money.”
Originally developed by the Healthy Homes Hub, HousingAI is designed to help social landlords and local authorities navigate housing law, regulation and best practice, and apply that insight directly to policy and day-to-day decision-making.
The platform has been shaped during 2025 with input from major housing providers including Clarion, Aster, Hyde Group and Anchor.
Now established as an independent platform, HousingAI is supported by strategic legal partner Anthony Collins and powered by AWS cloud technology, with a full sector rollout planned for 2026.
Jenny Danson, chief executive of Healthy Homes Hub, added: “Housing provision in the UK is inherently complex and complicated.
“We had the idea that there is a real opportunity to embrace AI to create compliance, regulatory and policy knowledge in a quick and efficient manner, providing valuable time back to users to spend with the most important part of the sector, the residents.
“Having refined the proposition with front-line housing professionals we are now delighted to see HousingAI standalone from the Hub and welcome Mike to launch the platform to the sector in collaboration with Anthony Collins and AWS.”
