S&W bolsters national advisory teams with senior partner appointments

Fast-growing professional services group S&W has strengthened its national advisory capability with three senior partner appointments across business tax, audit and valuations, reinforcing its investment in specialist expertise to support clients across the UK.

Andy Nixon has joined S&W as a partner in its Manchester-based research and development (R&D) tax team, expanding the firm’s business tax capability in the North West.

With more than a decade of experience, Andy advises technology and financial services businesses on complex R&D tax credit claims, and joins from Deloitte, EY and Grant Thornton.

Andy said: “I’m excited to join S&W and help businesses across the North West unlock the full potential of R&D tax incentives.

“Innovation is critical to growth, and with the UK now ranked among the top global innovation leaders and Greater Manchester driving the fastest productivity growth in the country – there’s never been a better time for businesses to invest in cutting-edge ideas.

“My focus will be on helping clients navigate complex claims and maximise opportunities available to them.”

Donna Bulmer, north regional managing partner at S&W, added: “Andy’s appointment is a significant step in strengthening our tax capabilities in the North West.

“His deep technical knowledge and proven track record advising businesses on R&D tax reliefs, will enable us to deliver even greater support to clients in this dynamic and fast-evolving area.

“We’re delighted to welcome him to the team and look forward to the positive impact his expertise will have on our people and on businesses across the region.”

Meanwhile, the firm has also appointed Andrew Dymond as a partner in its Birmingham audit team.

Andrew brings over 20 years’ experience from PwC, where he led the central non-financial reporting team, advising businesses on statutory audit, ESG reporting, audited grant claims and complex compliance requirements across a range of sectors.

He said: “I am thrilled to be joining S&W at such an exciting time.

“The opportunity to build on my experience working in the East Midlands private business equity market, backed by the strength and depth of the regional S&W team, was something I couldn’t refuse.

“I enjoy getting to know my client’s business, their team, strategy and culture.

“I then blend this understanding with my technical expertise, to deliver a high-quality audit with a personal touch – cutting through complexity and delivering exceptional client service.”

Stephen Drew, regional managing partner at S&W, added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Andrew to S&W.

“His depth of experience, particularly in ESG reporting and private business markets will be invaluable as we continue to expand our presence and deliver exceptional service to businesses across the Midlands.

“With his client-focused approach, I’m confident he will make a significant impact for our clients and our people.”

Finally in Cambridge, Dr Fernando Da Cruz Vasconcellos has been appointed as a partner in S&W’s valuations and modelling team.

With more than 25 years’ experience, Fernando specialises in complex valuations, particularly for technology and IP-led businesses, supporting high-growth companies, private equity and venture capital clients with investment, exit planning and advanced financial modelling.

He said: “I am delighted to join S&W at such a significant moment in the firm’s growth.

“S&W’s commitment to analytical excellence and its focus on delivering clear, commercially grounded advice aligns closely with my own approach to valuation.

“As technology and intangible assets become increasingly central to business value, clients are looking for deeper insight, rigorous analysis, and practical guidance they can rely on. I look forward to contributing to the continued expansion of our valuation, transaction, and advisory capabilities and to working the colleagues across the firm to support clients in navigating complex projects, making informed decisions, and creating lasting value.”
