4D Capital Partners secures jobs in takeover
A Yorkshire-based manufacturing business has secured its future after a deal that has safeguarded jobs in a specialist construction sector.
4D Capital Partners has acquired the York Handmade Brick Company, preventing the long-established brickmaker from entering administration and protecting 20 roles at the company.
The deal brings the York-based manufacturer into 4D’s growing building products group.
York Handmade Brick Company is known for producing bespoke and premium handmade bricks using traditional techniques and high-quality materials.
Its products are widely used in heritage restoration projects and high-profile new developments across the UK, includingthe Shard, the Said Business School in Oxford and Magdalene College Library in Cambridge.
Following the acquisition, the business will sit alongside Hepworth Clay within 4D’s portfolio.
Hepworth Clay manufactures vitrified clay drainage pipes and terracotta products for chimney and ventilation systems and has already seen performance improvements under 4D’s ownership.
Guy Armitage, managing director of York Handmade, said: “I am delighted to be working with 4D and Hepworth.
“Their expertise and track record in this sector are exactly what we need to take York Handmade to the next level.”
Alex Silk, founder of 4D Capital Partners, added: “We are delighted to have added York Handmade to our building products group.
“Like Hepworth, it is a heritage brand producing high quality products and we are very proud to become its custodians.
“We are particularly pleased that Guy Armitage has chosen to work with us in the business.
“As a fifth generation brickmaker, his knowledge and passion will be integral to us realising our ambitions for the business.”
