Local contractor to deliver Giants’ new base
A West Yorkshire-based construction firm is delivering a new sporting facility as a professional rugby league club establishes its first permanent training and operational base.
Mirfield-based D Croft & Son Limited has been appointed to lead the construction of a new purpose-built facility for Huddersfield Giants, marking a significant milestone for both the club and the family-run contractor.
The company was initially engaged to deliver infrastructure and specialist groundworks but has since been trusted with full responsibility for the project following strong performance in the early stages.
The appointment sees D Croft & Son overseeing the build through to completion, with the facility scheduled to be finished in mid-February.
Once complete, the development will provide the club with its first dedicated home, supporting training, operations and long-term growth.
John Croft, director at D Croft & Son, who spent a year with the Giants in his youth, said: “This new training facility is more than an upgrade – it’s a launchpad for what comes next.
“We’re creating a space built for progress, ambition, and possibility.
“With this facility, we’re unlocking new potential, pushing standards higher, and setting the stage for the next generation to train, grow, and lead the future.”
