Risk management firm on safe ground with takeover
An insurance broking and risk management firm says it is on safe ground for expansion after completing a takeover.
JMG Group has bought education-focused health and safety consultancy SafeSchool.
Bosses say the move will strengthen its Risk Support Services business by “extending its capacity to deliver comprehensive compliance and risk solutions across multiple sectors”.
They add Ellesmere Port-based SafeSchool will continue to operate under its existing name, with its five-strong team remaining in place.
Risk Support Services operates as the risk management and consultancy division of Butterworth Spengler, which sits within Guiseley-based JMG Group.
Founded in 2019 by Wirral-based former local authority health and safety staff Jeanne Fairbrother and Neil Thomas, SafeSchool provides support across areas including compliance audits, staff training, webinars and official safety documentation.
It works with more than 200 education establishments – from nurseries to colleges – across the North West, Birmingham and Bristol.
Jake Fox, JMG Group chief executive (MGA, wholesale and speciality), said: “SafeSchool brings outstanding expertise in education-focused health and safety consultancy.
“Through Risk Support Services, they gain access to resources and infrastructure and a broad range of compliance services – from fire, legionella and asbestos risk assessments to enhanced training – creating opportunities for clients and collaboration across the group.”
Jeanne added: “Demand for specialist support in education continues to grow, and we had reached the point where investment, added capacity and the backing of a larger organisation was required to support this demand.
“Joining Risk Support Services and JMG Group gives us that.”
