Apollo appoints built environment lead
Aberdeen-based energy advisory and engineering consultancy Apollo has strengthened its sustainable infrastructure capability with the appointment of Roy Stenhouse as head of built environment.
Roy joins Apollo from the Net Zero Technology Centre, where he served as chief impact officer and board member, leading more than £35 million of funded decarbonisation projects.
He brings 28 years of experience across the energy, infrastructure and government sectors, with a strong track record in delivering complex, multi-stakeholder programmes that support the transition to net zero.
In his new role, Roy will lead Apollo’s built environment work within its sustainable infrastructure business unit, supporting clients to reduce emissions and embed sustainable practices into day-to-day operations.
Roy, who is a chartered engineer and holds a degree in mechanical engineering, said: “The built environment is a large and wide-ranging sector covering much of what we see and use every day.
“Our focus will be on efficiency, new technology, energy delivery, and everything in between.
“We support clients not only on their net zero journey, but also in day-to-day operations to help reduce costs and embed more sustainable practices.
“Apollo’s multidisciplinary advisory and engineering capability means strategy can be shaped, systems modelled, carbon measured, and economics assessed, followed by delivery of projects that work in the real world.
“I look forward to working with clients, delivering tangible outcomes and expanding Apollo’s capabilities.”
Apollo’s built environment projects span areas including low-carbon heating systems, data centre energy resilience, battery energy storage assessments and support for social housing stock.
Phil Westmorland, sustainable infrastructure director at Apollo, added: “The built environment carries a large carbon footprint as well as accounting for significant GHG emissions whilst also an increased focus on improving energy efficiency.
“Roy will help clients move from plans to performance.
“That includes network infrastructure, estate decarbonisation, heat networks, grid and power resilience, data centres, microgrids, and new technology designed and delivered the Apollo way.”
