Dynamic Earth appoints chief executive
Edinburgh-based science centre and planetarium Dynamic Earth has appointed Gwilym Gibbons as its new chief executive.
Gwilym will take up the role in May 2026, succeeding interim chief executive Anastasia Rocke, who has led the organisation since July 2025.
He joins Dynamic Earth from The Crichton Trust, which manages a major parkland estate near Dumfries, where he has served as chief executive since 2018.
Gwilym brings extensive experience in strategic leadership and organisational transformation across the cultural, heritage and education sectors.
His background includes leading major capital projects and securing significant revenue and investment to support arts and heritage organisations across the UK.
He also holds several non-executive roles and has a strong interest in technology innovation and sustainability.
Gwilym said: “I am honoured to join Dynamic Earth at such a pivotal time.
“The organisation’s mission to inspire curiosity about our planet and the sciences that explain it is one I am passionate about.
“I look forward to working with the team, stakeholders, partners, and communities to build on its remarkable legacy.”
Sir Pete Downes, chair of Dynamic Earth’s board of trustees, added: “We were enormously impressed with Gwilym’s experience, including in relation to large-scale capital projects, which we believe make him ideally placed to lead Dynamic Earth through an exciting period of change and transformation.
“We greatly look forward to him taking the helm next year.
“We are deeply grateful to Anastasia for her dedication and leadership as interim chief executive.
“Her contribution has been invaluable.”
