True North expands forestry team
Afforestation investor and climate-focused fund manager True North Real Asset Partners, based in Alnwick, Northumberland, has strengthened its forestry investment management capability with two senior appointments.
Chris Hamill has joined the business as a main board director alongside Samuel Roberts, with both bringing extensive experience from senior roles within the UK forestry sector.
Their appointments support the establishment of an integrated in-house forestry development capability, as True North continues to scale its operations across Scotland and northern England.
Chris and Samuel will oversee the management of the firm’s existing afforestation pipeline and lead on new project generation as further capital is deployed into woodland creation and sustainable land use.
Chris said: "I am delighted to be joining True North to head up what will be a growing team of forestry experts.
“Investing in a specialist, in-house team demonstrates True North's commitment to woodland creation and balancing sustainable forestry with environmental stewardship, providing hands-on expert management and support for all forestry projects.
“Together, Sam and I bring a wealth of experience in leading and delivering large-scale woodland creation, blending forestry expertise with project management and business acumen.
“We are looking forward to growing the team and continuing to strive to achieve the perfect balance between ecological conservation and commercial viability, to ensure that all projects deliver a win-win for both nature and business.”
True North Real Asset Partners is the UK’s largest afforestation investor and focuses on delivering long-term environmental and climate outcomes through large-scale forestry investment.
James Jackson, chief information officer at True North Real Asset Partners, added: “We are delighted to bring Chris and Sam on board at an exciting time for the business.
“Creating our own in-house team sets the company apart, providing unrivalled expertise and seamless afforestation management from concept to operational handover.
“This marks a big and exciting step for True North as we begin new planting schemes this season in both Scotland and England, together with a strong pipeline of new schemes under development.”
