Firm's £25 million plan to copper-bottom future

A family-run industrial parts supplier has unveiled a £25 million investment plan aimed at copper-bottoming its future.

Lawton Tubes is rolling out technology and HR improvements.

Bosses say the moves – set to be accompanied by planned new £20 million headquarters – will enable the 107-year-old Coventry-based company “to service more customers than ever before”.

Known for supplying copper tube and components to the plumbing, air conditioning, medical gas and engineering sectors in the UK and abroad, the firm has introduced tablets for its handling team and a warehousing ticketing system.

It has also welcomed operations improvement manager Danielle White and plans to implement an enterprise resource planning system and overhaul its HR system.

The investment comes as the business, which last year turned over £230 million, presses on with a blueprint to begin building a new headquarters opposite its present Torrington Avenue base during 2026.

Director Robert Lawton said: “We have never taken the future for granted.

“While we’ve seen significant success in recent years, we realised our processes needed enhancing to keep us moving forward.

“Opening a new headquarters and investing in better systems is about giving our people the environment, tools and support they need to work much more efficiently.

“It’s an exciting step and a sign of how serious we are about the future.”

Danielle added: “We understand the pressures and expectations within the construction industry, including plumbing and heating, medical gas and engineering, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and we want to stay one step ahead in how we support them.”
