Veeno serves up half-price January cheer
A Durham city centre restaurant is aiming to kickstart the new year by tempting food lovers back out with a winter food offer designed to beat the January blues.
Italian wine bar and kitchen Veeno Durham is offering 50 per cent off food throughout January, giving customers the chance to enjoy its full à la carte menu at half price during what is traditionally one of the quietest months for the hospitality sector.
Located at Riverwalk in Durham, Veeno opened its doors in September and has quickly established itself as a popular addition to the city’s dining scene.
The venue, operated by franchise owners Dan and Donna Lewis, brings a relaxed Italian feel to the riverside, pairing traditional dishes with an extensive wine list and a focus on sociable, informal dining.
The January promotion covers the entire food menu, from freshly prepared pizzas and pasta dishes to Spuntini sharing boards featuring Italian meats and cheeses, allowing diners to sample a wide range of classic flavours for less.
Donna said: “The response since opening has been incredible, and Christmas was especially busy.
“January can be a tough month for people, so we wanted to give something back to our customers and also welcome those who may not have visited us yet.
“This offer lets everyone enjoy great Italian food without compromising on quality.”
The Veeno concept is rooted in Sicilian food and wine culture, with Dan and Donna having acquired the franchise from business partners Nino Caruso and Rodrigue Trouillet, with wines across the Veeno estate supplied by Nino’s family-run winery in Marsala, Italy, founded by his great grandfather.
Dan added: “Our ethos is to celebrate Italian food and wine and culture, and there’s been a real appetite for what we offer.
“We wanted to start 2026 with a bang and what better way than to offer 50 per cent of our menu.”
