Ramboll appoints new head of cities
Global engineering, architecture and consultancy firm Ramboll has appointed Richard Dean as head of cities for the North and Midlands, strengthening its private sector-focused offering across the UK.
In his new role, Richard will lead Ramboll’s multidisciplinary engineering teams in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham, supporting private development projects across sectors including commercial offices, residential, higher education, retail, hotels, culture, sport and leisure.
Richard brings extensive leadership experience across property design, development and delivery.
Originally trained as a building services engineer, his career spans design, project management and senior development roles, including positions at Balfour Beatty, Bovis and property developer KW Linfoot.
More recently, he has held senior roles overseeing major residential and commercial schemes across the North and East Anglia.
Richard said: “I’m thrilled to join Ramboll to grow our project portfolio and teams in the North and Midlands.
“Clients are seeking practical pathways to develop in a challenging commercial environment and deliver projects that are commercially resilient and socially impactful.

Richard’s appointment supports Ramboll’s ambition to scale its city-focused teams and strengthen its position as a leading consultant across key UK urban centres.
