Hexa expands PFAS capability with senior hire
Engineering consultancy Hexa, headquartered in Nottingham, has expanded its specialist PFAS investigation and assessment capability with the appointment of geo-environmental expert Will Spraggs as an associate in its Land team.
Will brings more than 13 years’ experience in contaminated land and geo-environmental investigation, including complex PFAS assessments on former Ministry of Defence sites and commercial airports.
He joins Hexa’s Land team, launched in 2024, which supports ground engineering delivery on complex brownfield developments.
PFAS, often described as ‘forever chemicals’, are an emerging environmental priority in the UK, commonly linked to firefighting foams and industrial activity at airfields, defence and manufacturing sites.
With regulation evolving rapidly, Hexa is positioning itself at the forefront of PFAS investigation, risk assessment and remediation support.
Will said: “PFAS are an evolving area of environmental risk. “Official guidance is still developing, so we will be taking a pragmatic, evidence-led approach to support clients facing this challenge.”
“I was ready for a change and a new challenge, with the culture at Hexa appealing to me.
“It’s an ambitious and quickly growing company and the team has given me the scope to apply my expertise, which complements the existing offering too.”
Hexa provides end-to-end land contamination services, from early-stage due diligence through to site investigation, regulatory support and remediation design.
Will’s appointment strengthens the consultancy’s geo-environmental expertise as demand for specialist PFAS knowledge continues to grow.
Matt Lomas, director at Hexa, added: “We’re always looking at evolving our services to better support industry challenges and we are proud to be able to attract top talent from across the sector to support us in doing that.
“Will’s drive and expertise will boost our capability in this emerging area, strengthening the growth of our PFAS services as the business continues to scale.
“We’re looking forward to seeing how he shapes the team.”
