OFBJP UK appoints regional convenor
UK-based community organisation Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party UK (OFBJP UK) has appointed Sahibee Anand as its North East regional convenor to strengthen engagement with the Indian diaspora across the region.
The newly created regional role will focus on improving community coordination, encouraging civic participation and supporting cultural dialogue among professionals, students, entrepreneurs and families living in North East England.
Sahibee brings significant experience in governance and community leadership.
He previously served as an elected municipal corporator in Mohali, India, and held a national executive role with Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of India’s governing party.
In his new position, Sahibee will work closely with local community groups and stakeholders to support cultural initiatives, community forums and programmes aimed at increasing awareness and participation.
Sahibee said: “The North East has a vibrant and diverse Indian community.
“My focus will be on bringing people together, encouraging constructive engagement, and supporting initiatives that reflect shared values of inclusion, dialogue, and contribution to wider Society.”
Sahibee’s appointment reflects OFBJP UK’s continued focus on strengthening regional leadership and grassroots engagement across the UK.
Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat, president of OFBJP UK, added: “The North East is an important and dynamic region with an increasingly active Indian diaspora.
“Sahibee Anand’s experience in public service and community organisation will help strengthen engagement, dialogue, and participation at a regional level.”
