Northern Pulse to dial up impact with funding
A North East community arts organisation is expanding its work with young people after securing fresh funding to grow inclusive music and creative sessions across the region.
Northern Pulse CIC has been awarded almost £10,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund to support and extend its programme of music-based activity for children and young people.
The funding will enable the organisation to increase the frequency of sessions and reach new communities across the North East.
Based in the region, Northern Pulse delivers hands-on creative music sessions designed to build confidence, skills and self-expression.
Its work includes DJ workshops and practical music activities that introduce young people to music technology, collaboration and performance in supportive community settings.
The organisation has already delivered sessions at venues including Blaydon Youth and Community Centre and Byker Lighthouse Project, alongside ongoing activity at Gateshead Interchange in partnership with Gateshead FC Foundation.
The new funding will also support upcoming sessions at YMCA Ashington, allowing the programme to expand into new locations.
Michael Dixon, co-director of Northern Pulse, said: “We’re delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work.
“Thanks to National Lottery players, this funding will help us build on successful sessions we’ve already delivered and continue working with trusted partners across the region to reach more young people.”
Founded to address gaps in access to creative opportunities, Northern Pulse works closely with local partners to deliver activity in familiar and accessible spaces.
The latest funding will help strengthen that approach, creating more opportunities for young people to engage with music and the arts locally.
Co-director Stewart Platt added: “The sessions give young people the chance to try something new, work together and build confidence.
“This support means we can continue developing high-quality, consistent activity in community spaces.”
