EasyJet boosts North East offer with new city flights
A budget airline has unveiled new routes from a North East base.
EasyJet is set to operate flights to Rome Fiumicino and Lisbon from Newcastle International Airport.
Bosses say Rome services will begin in late March, with its Portuguese venture earmarked to start in June.
The flights come as EasyJet prepares to open a three-aircraft base at Newcastle, which it says will add 14 new routes to its North East roster.
Kevin Doyle, EasyJet UK country manager, said: “We’re excited to be launching two more routes and package holidays from our Newcastle base to two of Europe’s popular destinations.”
Leon McQuaid, Newcastle International Airport director of aviation development, added: “Lisbon is a destination we’ve been keen to deliver for the region on the back of strong customer demand and feedback.
“These services further strengthen EasyJet’s growing network from Newcastle, providing even more choice for the region.”
