Construction firm on track with £7.2 million rail work
A builder has secured £7.2 million rail sector work.
HBC Construction is set to create a Sheffield-based maintenance delivery unit.
Bosses say the 15,000sq ft timber frame hub – set for Network Rail’s Blast Lane depot – will provide accommodation for frontline staff.
They add it will include heat recovery ventilation, smart lighting and solar panels, with the scheme partially funded by Network Rail’s Green Bank.
Work is earmarked to begin in February and be completed next year.
Lee Powell, managing director at Dronfield-based HBC Construction, said: “This facility will set another benchmark for sustainable design and timber frame delivery across Yorkshire and the wider region.”
Chris Round, Network Rail eastern routes capital programmes senior portfolio manager, added: “The new maintenance delivery unit will provide much-needed, high-quality accommodation for our frontline staff.
“The sustainability initiatives proposed will also deliver long-term benefits.”
