Senior promotions bolster BGF’s Edinburgh team
BGF, the UK and Ireland’s most active growth capital investor, has made a series of senior promotions within its Edinburgh-based Scotland team following a strong year of investment activity.
Patrick Graham, regional partner, has expanded his remit beyond Scotland and Ireland to include South West England and Wales.
Patrick has led the Scotland team through more than £400 million of investment across 60 companies.
Graham Clarke has been promoted to regional portfolio partner and will now oversee BGF’s portfolio across Scotland, Ireland, South West England and Wales.
With more than a decade at BGF, he also joins the firm’s investment committee and leadership team.
Meanwhile Gemma Hamilton has been promoted to partner – origination.
Having joined BGF in 2013, she will now lead a team of ten investors across the UK and Ireland, focused on sourcing and converting new investment opportunities through close relationships with management teams and advisers.
The Edinburgh office has also been strengthened with the appointment of Finn Marsden as an origination analyst, joining from Carlyle Associates to support BGF’s regional teams.
In 2025, BGF completed a £15 million investment in Scottish housebuilder Cruden and achieved successful exits including Entier and Optima Partners.
The team is now working on a strong pipeline of deals as part of BGF’s £200 million commitment to Scottish businesses over the next five years.
Patrick said: “Graham and Gemma have played pivotal roles in the growth and long-term success of BGF in Scotland for more than a decade.
“Their promotions are thoroughly deserved and reflect the central role they’ve played in helping to build such a strong team here in Scotland.
“These new positions provide both Graham and Gemma with a larger platform to continue to shape the development of BGF in Scotland, while also increasing their impact and positive influence across the broader BGF UK and Ireland business.”
