AEW secures B Corp recertification
A privately owned London and Manchester-based architecture practice has strengthened its sustainability credentials after improving its performance against one of the world’s leading ethical business benchmarks.
AEW Architects has retained its B Corp certification, increasing its overall B Impact score by eight per cent to 102.9, well above the minimum threshold required.
The improvement reflects gains across governance and workers categories, underlining continued investment in leadership, transparency and employee wellbeing.
AEW first achieved B Corp status in 2022, when uptake across the sector was limited.
Its recertification comes as participation in the scheme among UK architecture, design and planning firms continues to grow rapidly, reinforcing AEW’s position as an early adopter within the profession.
Managing director Andy Rainford said: “Our trailblazing approach to B Corp laid the groundwork to show that certification is not just possible, but beneficial to businesses working in our industry.
“We’re committed to exceeding and improving on these minimum standards across the business, ensuring that we deliver the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability in the industry.
“Our journey with B Corp is an ongoing one.
“We’ll continue to build on our progress, using the B Corp framework to guide future improvements, with our people, communities, clients and the environment at the heart of our thinking.”
