Engineer presses on with equipment investment
A metal stamping firm is pressing on with growth plans thanks to a £150,000-plus investment.
Pre-Met is expanding its in-house toolroom with a wire erosion machine.
Bosses say the move will “broaden capacity, produce larger tools, achieve more precise cuts” and strengthen ambitions to secure transport and defence sector work.
Based in Redditch, the metal pressing company began life making pens, cufflinks and telecoms parts, with its present-day order book supporting areas including the aerospace, construction and electrical sectors.
Matt Harrison, toolroom manager, said: “I like to think of our toolroom as the heartbeat of the business, and our wire erosion machine will dovetail into existing operations.
“This latest investment will deepen the equipment available in this critical department, delivering faster turnaround times, greater control on complex tooling builds and the opportunity to do more of our own tooling.
“The latter is really important, as we’re beginning to see enquiries come in from the defence, construction and transport sectors that require us to be involved in the design stage from early concept onwards.”
