Golf club tees up growth with funding boost
A County Durham golf club is lining up growth after securing fresh funding to improve facilities, strengthen finances and expand its offer to visitors.
Beamish Park Golf Club has secured a £400,000 funding facility to support a programme of upgrades and new services aimed at long-term growth.
Club officials say the refinancing package will enable the club to invest in infrastructure while reorganising historic borrowing to ease short and medium-term cashflow pressures.
Planned investments include the refurbishment of Beamish Lodge into visitor accommodation, improvements to the on-site pro shop, as well as the development of mobile home and visitor parking facilities.
Together, these upgrades are designed to enhance the overall visitor experience and position the club as a year-round destination.
Beyond the club itself, the investment is expected to support the wider County Durham visitor economy by encouraging longer stays, increasing local spend and strengthening supply chains.
Phil Dobson, treasurer at Beamish Park Golf Club, said: “This funding is a real step forward for the club.
“It allows us to invest in the areas that will generate new income and improve the experience for our members and visitors, while also simplifying and restructuring our existing borrowing.
“The support from UMi Get Funding was invaluable.
“Dave took the time to fully understand our situation and guided us through the options, ensuring we ended up with a solution that genuinely works for the club both now and in the future.”
The flexible facility was provided by peer-to-peer lender FOLK2FOLK, following tailored support from the UMi Get Funding Team, which helped the club access finance suited to its needs.
The revised funding structure is expected to deliver significant savings and provide the flexibility required to progress future plans.
Dave Jones, business funding adviser at UMi Get Funding, added: “Beamish Park Golf Club came to us with a clear ambition to invest in its future while also bringing its historic finances into better shape.
“Our role was to identify a funding solution that would reduce monthly pressures, provide breathing space, and give the business time to see the results of its plans coming through.
“By securing a facility with FOLK2FOLK, we were able to deliver a competitive structure that meets those objectives and supports the club’s longer-term plans.”
Tracey Gott, relationship manager at FOLK2FOLK, added: “We’re delighted to support Beamish Park Golf Club with this funding package.
“As a peer-to-peer lender, we take a case-by-case approach and work closely with trusted advisers like UMi Get Funding to ensure businesses receive finance that is appropriate for their circumstances and ambitions.
“This facility will help the club invest, grow and move forward with confidence.”
