Metrick helps deliver £2.7 million retrofit scheme

A housing upgrade programme is helping families cut energy costs while improving the efficiency of social homes across Hull.

Around 200 properties in the city have been retrofitted with solar panels, modern heating systems and improved insulation as part of a £2.7 million home improvement scheme delivered by Newton Aycliffe-based Metrick Limited.

The upgrades included solar panels, electric storage heaters and enhanced loft insulation, with households seeing average heating bill savings of around 60 per cent during the winter months.

All homes have now achieved an EPC rating of B, placing residents ahead of future energy efficiency requirements.

Metric, which specialises in identifying and securing grant funding for businesses, charities and public sector organisations, including ECO4 residential grants, delivered the programme on a turnkey basis, covering assessments, installation, aftercare and EPC certification.

Chief executive Chloe Raistrick said: “This shows what proper retrofit looks like.

“You can’t just put solar panels on roofs and hope for the best.

“The heating systems, insulation and technology all work together.

“That’s why families are seeing 60 per cent savings immediately.”

Chloe added: “We are already working with energy partners to secure additional grant funding for councils and housing associations, value combined with minimal disruption

“This project shows exactly what can be done and the benefits to everyone involved, from maximum reward and minimal distribution.

“For housing associations looking at these results and wondering about their own retrofit opportunities, the message is clear.

“This level of transformation is achievable when you work with partners who understand both the technology and the funding landscape.

“That’s where we come in.”
