Social landlord backed to create 54-home scheme
A housing association has secured approval for a 54-property scheme.
Peabody has been backed to create a Bedfordshire estate.
Bosses say the Leighton Buzzard venture will “provide more affordable, family-sized housing for local people”.
They add the endeavour – subject to completion of a Section 106 agreement and final approval from Central Bedfordshire Council – will include a mix of rental, shared ownership and private sale homes.
About 40 per cent of properties are planned to include at least three bedrooms, with the estate, in the Linslade area of Leighton Buzzard, also primed to feature public areas, green spaces and a children’s play area.
Simon Barry, regional managing director for development at London-headquartered Peabody, said: “This approval is good news, helping more people find a secure home that meets their needs.
“We also know access to green space and nature are important to people, and these plans include careful measures to protect wildlife.”
