Robson Laidler stays fighting fit with award
A North East professional services firm has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to workplace wellbeing after securing top-level recognition for the fifth year running.
Robson Laidler Accountants has once again achieved the ‘Maintaining Excellence’ standard in the Better Health at Work Awards, the highest level within the regional programme.
The reaccreditation recognises the firm’s sustained focus on supporting the physical and mental health of its team across offices in Newcastle, Durham and Teesside.
Amy Park, co-managing director at Robson Laidler, said: “The quality of the work done by our health advocates has a tangible impact on our business culture and operations and we’re very pleased to have retained the highest-level accreditation once again.”
The Better Health at Work Awards programme celebrates employers that take a strategic and proactive approach to employee wellbeing, with more than 400 organisations across the North East and Cumbria now participating and only a small number achieving and retaining the ‘Maintaining Excellence’ standard.
To retain the top standard, organisations must demonstrate a rolling three-year health strategy and deliver a minimum of five workplace health campaigns each year.
Robson Laidler’s reaccreditation followed a full assessment process, including a detailed evidence portfolio and workplace evaluation, reflecting its embedded and consistent approach to employee health and wellbeing.
Over the past year, the firm has delivered more than ten wellbeing initiatives spanning physical and mental health, cancer awareness, neurodiversity and financial wellbeing, supported by trained colleagues including mental health first aiders, domestic violence champions, grief first aiders and neurodiversity champions who provide guidance and signposting across the business.
Kelly Richardson, who coordinates Robson Laidler’s Better Health at Work Programme, added: “Robson Laidler has a team of health advocates across the business who meet every month to look at the different areas of physical and mental health chosen by the wider team to base our campaign focus.
“Our advocates have received bespoke training to ensure they can share their knowledge effectively among their colleagues and the wider community.
“The benefit is that all members of our team gain greater awareness of health issues and practical help in improving their own and their families’ wellbeing, while the firm gets improved employee morale and engagement through the activities, which hopefully results in a healthier workforce.
“We encourage everyone to share information so that it has the maximum positive impact across our community.”
