Work begins on £20 million later living scheme
A builder has begun work on a new later living development in Bradford.
Caddick Construction has started building work on Ashfield Mills, a £20.7 million apartment scheme being delivered on behalf of housing and care provider Anchor.
The development will provide 75 later living apartments, alongside communal facilities, landscaped areas and car parking.
Located on Ashfield Road in Idle, the scheme is being delivered via the NEPO Construction Works framework.
Jane Turner, construction lead at North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO), said: “We are delighted that Anchor has successfully appointed Caddick Construction through NEPO207 Construction Works Framework to deliver the Ashfield Mills development.
“The framework is designed to give member authorities and associates, such as Anchor, a compliant, efficient route to market while ensuring robust quality, social value and value for money is achieved.
“We look forward to seeing the project progress and to continuing to support Contracting Authorities and our framework contractors.”
Victoria Mager, Director of Development Delivery at Anchor, added: “This scheme represents an important investment in high‑quality homes for older people in Bradford.
“Our ambition is to create welcoming, modern places that help residents stay connected and live well for longer.
“Working with Caddick, we’re looking forward to delivering a development that supports both individual independence and a strong sense of community.”
The project adds to Caddick Construction’s growing later living portfolio and strengthens its presence in Bradford, following the completion of One City Park, the city’s first Grade A office development in 20 years.
Building work is scheduled to complete in 2027.
Steve Ford, regional managing director at Caddick Construction North East & Yorkshire, added: “We’re proud to have been appointed to deliver Anchor’s latest later living complex and for work to be progressing on site.
“This new development will offer residents independent living with the peace of mind that comes from a supportive community environment.
“Building on our experience in the later living sector, we will work in collaboration with our partners and supply chain to successfully bring this development to life.”
